Things to do in Dubai

Things to do in DubaiDubai is the city for business, with innumerable companies and business opportunities at every step. However, it is also a city that offers something more, when you’re done with work and want to have some fun and relaxation.

If you want to experience a bit of old, traditional Dubai one of the best places to start getting to know it is the Bastakiya district. It is one of the last places where you can see what life was like in the old days. It is a quarter that houses a large number of renovated traditional buildings and narrow streets. Although you can find very little additional information about the buildings, Bastakiya District offers a great insight in Old Dubai. The atmosphere and plenty of small galleries, cafes and eateries will leave you with a sense of bygone, more peaceful Dubai.

Jumeirah mosque is also a part of the old, traditional Dubai, located not far from the beach area. It is one of Dubai’s most famous and photographed sights. It is a great example of traditional Muslim architecture with a contemporary twist. It is made entirely of white stone that glistens in the desert sun, with two tall minarets which overlook the surrounding area and stand guard on both sides of the central dome which resembles a crown. Jumeirah mosque truly is a sight to behold.

However, Dubai is foremost a modern city and one of the best examples of the new, extravagant Dubai is the Dubai Marina. It is one of the most popular places in Modern Dubai with a breath-taking skyline, myriad of five-star hotels, two different walkways, a huge mall and much, much more. It is also a home for numerous yachts, some of which you can rent and cruise around the city.

Burj Khalifa also represents the new, insanely rich Dubai as it is by far the tallest, man-made structure in the world. This 828 meters tall tower dominates the Dubai skyline and the visitors may take a look at Dubai from the world’s highest observation deck on 124th floor

Dubai is also a place to do some shopping. Whether you prefer western-style shopping in some of the biggest, most amazing malls in the whole world, where shopping becomes a mad, extravagant adventure; or if you are up for some traditional shopping in Gold or Spice Souks (markets) which offer a shopping experience of long gone days, Dubai has it all.
